In Brazil, fish farming is represented 43% by tilapia production and 23% by tambaqui (BRAZIL, 2013). In this sense, the objective of this work was to make a survey of fish consumption in the municipality of Sena Madureira-AC. The research was carried out through a structured questionnaire, applied to the inhabitants of the municipality in question, from April to May 2018. The questionnaire consisted of nineteen multiple-choice questions. Fifty people were interviewed in 10 districts of the municipality of Sena Madureira, randomly selected. The data obtained were tabulated with the help of Excel® software version 1803 for Windows 10, obtaining the relative frequency for each question. Descriptive statistics were used to construct graphs. It was verified that the most consumed species in the municipality are tambaqui (57%), pirapitinga (19%) and mandim (12%), followed by painted (7%), piau (4%) and tilapia (1%). Fish consumption is mainly due to food habits (50.8%) and availability (39.2%). The high consumption of tambaqui may be being influenced by the increase of the production of this species in the municipality, consequently increasing the supply and, giving sales values more attractive to the consumers. It was found that consumers buy fish mainly at the fair (70.8%) and direct with the producer (14.2%), with the justification that these places offer a more affordable price and a greater variety of species. When questioned about fish consumption, most respondents (69.6%) report that their family consumes at most 1 kg per week. It is concluded that the consumption of fish in the municipality of Sena Madureira was considered low mainly due to the options for purchase of this food. There is a need for investment in public policies to encourage consumption and promote greater availability of this product ER -
