520 _aAbstract: Sheep breeding is an alternative activity for small farms that develop family farming in arid and semi-arid regions of the planet, as well as other biomes, such as the Amazon, mainly due to the ability of these animals to adapt to different conditions. It is also a way to increase income, allowing greater revenue entry in the property throughout the year. This study aimed to perform a survey to know the socioeconomic and zootechnical profile of the producers inserted in the productive chain of sheep production in the municipality of Sena Madureira - Acre State. The method adopted for this evaluation was descriptive, type Survey, and the data were collected through a semi structured questionnaire. The data collection period was between September and November of 2017, together with 16 producers at different points in the rural area of the municipality. The method adopted for this evaluation was descriptive, type Survey, and the data were collected through a semi structured questionnaire. The data obtained were processed and analyzed with the help of Excel l® software (Windows 2010). The results indicated that all producers are males, with an average age of 45 years. Around 50% of them completed a high school education, with a per capita income of between one and three minimum wages, the majority being about 75%, coming from beef cattle. The properties have as calculation of 85 hectares, and the breeding system adopted is of the extensive type. To feed the herd, fodder is used as: marsh grass, native, leguminous puerile, African star (Cynodon nlemfuensis), Brachiaria - humídicula, Panicum maximum cv. tanzania, and Brizantha cv. MG 5. As a night-time management practice, sheep are trapped in ripped or beaten-up piles. The properties have an average herd of 64 animals, with ability to produce meat. Most of this production is destined for subsistence of the families and the surplus is commercialized in the local market. The main sanitary practice performed by the producers is vermifugation and they provide mineral supplementation daily in the troughs, using salt for cattle (47%) specific salt of sheep (47%) in addition to salt for other species (6%). According to a survey with the producers, what is most difficult to produce is the excess rainfall (22%). As for the cost of activities, about 56% of the producers did not have access to the specific credit for sheep rearing. It is concluded that there is a development of sheep production in the municipality of Sena Madureira, however, there are important obstacles in organizational terms that need to be overcome urgently to consolidate this productive activity and increase the local economy, consequently improving family income by doing with which man remain in the field.
