520 _aAbstract: The fish has experienced an increase in demand in the last decades due to the increase in the demand for healthier foodstuffs, a fact that contributes to the advance of the fish activity in several regions of the world. The northern region of Brazil presents great potential for fish production, mainly due to the climate and water availability. However, the fish farming practiced in some municipalities of this region does not present significant numbers. In this context, the diagnostic study of production, as well as the main obstacles that affect producers in the region, is an essential research tool to raise the real situation and plan the actions for the development of fish farming. The objective of this work was to carry out a productive diagnosis and identify the main obstacles to fish farming in the municipalities of Acrelândia, Bujari and Sena Madureira, in the state of Acre. The research was carried out between August and December 2017, through the application of questionnaires containing questions of production during personal interviews with producers of the target municipalities of the study. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and tabulated with the help of the program Microsoft Excel 2010 version 1803 for Windows 10. The results indicated that the properties present a small area of production, most between 0.5 and 1.0 hectares, and the most produced species are: tambaqui, pirapitinga and pintado. Most of the properties presented average fish production of up to 1 ton / year. The descriptive results demonstrated the need to carry out actions focused mainly on the reduction of production costs, especially regarding the acquisition of inputs, besides the training of fish farmers, access to financial resources through financing and specialized technical assistance. In conclusion, the productive diagnosis is an instrument capable of contributing to the continuous development of the activity in the State.
