520			_aAbstract: The milk production chain plays a key role in the country's economic development. Acre has undergone profound socioeconomic transformations mainly in the milk production chain. Dairy farming has significant representation in the state, since 21.9% of rural establishments produce and sell milk. The quality of the raw material is a very important factor for the guarantee of safe and quality products, for which good milking practices are indispensable. Therefore, the objective of this work was to diagnose the milking procedures of the milk producing units (UPL), located in the municipality of Sena Madureira-AC. Fifteen UPLs were visited and the procedures performed before, during and after milking were observed. It was verified that in most properties, the milker presented personal cleanliness (73%), did not use capillary protection (60%) and did not wear adequate clothing (80%). Regarding the milking site, it was verified that most of the properties do not have milking parlor (87%), being carried out in stables and the utensils used during milking are not properly sanitized. It was also verified that pre-dipping and post-dipping are not performed in any of the properties visited. These data are of great importance because the milker and the place of the milking can be a source of contamination for the milk, compromising the stability of this raw material, as well as its derivatives. The results obtained from this work show that most of the studied properties do not adopt the main practices considered necessary for the production of quality milk.
