520 _aThe chestnut tree is native to the Amazon and found in land division. It is exploited by extractive communities that provide the fruit, sold both in the domestic and international markets. The study of nutrient cycling is critical to understand the functioning of forest ecosystems. This work aimed to study the nutrient cycling with the tree species, Bertholletia excelsa. The study was realized in Seringal Filipinas, Colocação Rio de Janeiro, at the Reserva Extrativista Chico Mendes, Epitaciolândia, Acre. Twenty-four chestnut trees were randomly selected. In order to quantify the litter production four collectors were installed within a square metter, according to the top of each tree, totaling ninety-six collectors. They were made monthly from June 2009 to July 2010. The chemical analyzes of litterfall biomass were determined by nitro-perchloric and sulfuric digestion. The analysis was focused on the determination of the total concentration of calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), potassium (k), phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N) in the litterfall biomass. The following parameters were measured, the average levels of macronutrients, precipitation, temperature, chemical properties of soil and diameter at breast height. The temperature remained stable during the experiment. The largest rates of rise precipitation occurred from November to March, and the highest value was in December (350.7 mm). Among the analyzed macronutrients, nitrogen has the highest rates with an average of 17.92 g kg-1. Phosphorus has high values when compared to the literature, with an averaging of 0.72 g kg-1. The macronutrients K, Ca and Mg exhibits similar behavior through the different months of evaluation. The soil exhibit acidic pH with a low cation exchange capacity. It has been found a big predominance of adult individuals (DBH &#8805 50 cm), with an average diameter at breast height of 109 cm. The higher production rates occurred with trees having DBH below 170 cm.Keywords: Foliar Analysis, Chestnut Tree, Fruitful, Nutrition.
