520 _aBuritizeiro (Mauritia flexuosa L. f.) is considered the most abundant palm in the Brazilian territory and is characterized by its great socioeconomic potential due to its extensive commercial use in the production of oil, starch, wax, fibers, besides being used as raw material for construction of houses, boats and bridges, as well as in the manufacture of beverages and handicrafts. The Amazon region has enormous plant biodiversity, which includes the palms of M. flexuosa, whose species need to be further studied, since they are believed to be potential sources of innumerable functional and medicinal properties. COOPFRUTOS works with non-timber forest products, buriti being one of the main species, and developing important social, economic and environmental work in the Alto Juruá Region. Between 2017 and 2018, the said Cooperative established a partnership and collaboration with ten rural communities, and for some of the families involved, this work represents the main income. This study aimed to characterize the entire production process of buriti oil - which is the main raw material for the production of products and by-products. We worked with the following products: three-phase oil (sunscreen), edible or commercial oil, soap, bar soap and liquid soap. In the acceptance and purchase intent tests, it was found that bar soap and soap products were preferred by the evaluators. It was also verified that the product less preferred by the interviewees, is one of the most important products of the said Cooperative and is the most exported - the buriti oil or commercial oil.Key words: Mauritia flexuosa acceptability buying atitude.
