Summary: Abstract: Sheep farming, rationally exploited, and conducted in accordance with environmental, social and economic peculiarities, is an excellent alternative for the different ecosystems existing in Brazil, usually with low productivity and carried out by producers lacking financial capital and technological resources. This study aimed to characterize the zootechnical and socioeconomic profile of family farming sheep farmers in the municipality of Sena Madureira/Acre. The experiment was carried out from September 10, 2019 to July 10, 2020, through individual interviews with 10 producers in the region. The data obtained in the questionnaire were tabulated and submitted to descriptive statistical analysis using the Excel program, version 1803 for Windows 10, to obtain the relative frequency of each question. The results obtained indicated that most of the interviewed producers have been exploring this type of creation for over 20 years that 80% of the producers are male, have an average age of 50 years and are all literate. It was found that 100% of producers raise sheep extensively, with the predominant breed being Santa Inês. In sanitary management, 70% of producers reported that they carry out mandatory vaccinations, rabies and clostridiosis (anthrax) and 30% do not. Among the diseases, hoof rot, diarrhea and worms stand out, which, according to 80% of those interviewed, affect or have already affected their animals. It was found that 60% of producers provide mineral salt for animals and 40% provide only white salt. All properties have feeders in their pastures, 70% are covered and 30% are not. 80% of the properties visited have facilities (shelter or corral) to shelter and manage sheep. It is evident that through this study it was possible to observe that sheep herd breeders in the Municipality should pay special attention to the food, reproductive, sanitary and zootechnical management of these animals, as one of the biggest obstacles found in sheep breeding in the Municipality was the shortage of specialized technical assistance.
